Where can I apply for the Coronavirus Local Authority Discretionary Grant? A complete list for Warwickshire and West Midlands businesses.

5th June 2020

As an additional support measure, the government announced the Coronavirus Local Authority Discretionary Fund back at the start of May for small and micro-businesses with fixed property costs that are not eligible for the Small Business Grant Fund or the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund. Many councils have now opened their application process for these grants.

You’re potentially eligible if your business:

  • is based in England
  • has fewer than 50 employees
  • has fixed building costs such as rent
  • was trading on 11 March 2020
  • has been adversely impacted by the coronavirus

Local councils have discretion about how to prioritise this funding. The grant will not need to be paid back, but remember that it is taxable.

You cannot apply if you’re already claiming under another government grant scheme, such a the Small Business Grant Fund or Retail or Hospitality and Leisure Grant, however, you’re still eligible if you’ve applied for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme or the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme, have received funding under the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme or the Bounce Back Loan Scheme.

We’ve collated a comprehensive list of links to Warwickshire and West Midlands councils to make it easier for you to find the right information.
