The young strikers at a city football club now have an extra incentive to find the back of the net.

Coventry and Warwickshire accountants and business advisers Harrison, Beale and Owen has offered a one pound donation to Chapelfields Colts FC under 11s red team for every goal they score between now and the end of the season.

The team, based at Westwood Heath, is currently challenging for the title in the John Bryan Minor League which runs until the end of April.

Phil Ewing, managing director at Harrison, Beale and Owen, said: “We are really pleased to be able to support a local team of youngsters and spur them on to even greater heights.

“Hopefully the goal a game incentive will create some high scoring games but we have guaranteed the team £100.

“Chapelfields Colts is a very professionally run club which works hard to keep children active and I wish the U11s all the best for the rest of the season.”

Manager Andy Whitehouse, who is also club chairman, said he was very grateful for the generosity of HB&O.

He said: “The team is going on a tour to Great Yarmouth in May and this money will help us kit them out in new tracksuits.

“It has been a great campaign so far - last year we were near the bottom of the table the whole time but we have been in the top three for most of this season.

“The turnaround has been down to a great effort from the team and I’m hoping to see the back of the net bulge even more consistently between now and the end of the season.”.
